Movement and physical activity have always been significant in my life. From the time I could walk through my college years, I had a soccer ball at my feet. I loved being a member of a team working toward a common goal, while improving my own skills. Unfortunately, my soccer career came to an end with a major injury and surgery which put me on a trajectory of healing that would change my life. I was incredibly lucky to have an athletic trainer who did all of my physical (and subsequent emotional) therapy at the time. While it took around three years to get back to trusting my body with physical activity again, it was the practice of yoga that guided me there. It was through yoga that I was able to incorporate mindfulness to the ways in which I move and think so I could trust my body again; as I realized that much of my exercises in the past were actually quite harmful.  I was so inspired by these practices that I decided to enroll in a yoga teacher training in order to share what I was learning with others.

Thanks to the grace of my athletic trainer and my yoga teachers, I have found and cultivated ways of befriending and caring for my body. It is my belief that there are many people out there feeling limited and intimidated as I was, and my hope as a teacher is that I will be able to emulate what my teachers have guided me toward - the ability to discover peace, ease, and joy within the body and mind.
